No Lois Lane Here - Give Them an Extra
Boost with a Supergirl Outfit
As a girl growing up there have been
more than enough super heroes for boys to look up to. This
is nothing new. Heroes have been around for centuries. Some
of the most famous ones are Superman, Spiderman, and Batman.
They uphold the law, protect the innocent, and always strive
to do the right thing.
Don't Girls Need Super Heroes
Too?
Now while this is all fine and good, I
can't help but think; what about the girls? Don't young
females also need strong heroines to look up to? Fortunately
there are a few, even though we don't hear about them quite
as often. Take Supergirl for instance. Now she's a stand-up
example for little girls to look up to. Hey, as long as they
don't attempt flying or anything ridiculous like that.
Otherwise your little lady would be styling in a supergirl
costume this Halloween.
Little Girls Feel Mighty in Their
Supergirl Costumes
It's good to feel powerful and
confident. This is what my little girl feels when she pulls
on her supergirl costume. Now, I
know what you may be thinking....
Costumes are generally for
October 31st
However, if you have kids of your own,
then you know that they enjoy dressing-up any time of the
year. It's just plain and simple fun for them. My daughter
has countless costumes she prances around in on occasion. I
swear she never gets tired of pretending. Not that I can
blame her. I recall dressing up as Spiderman all the time
when I was a small child. It made me feel like I could do
virtually anything.
We have to consider what sort of
message we're sending to our children with the costumes we
suggest on Halloween or any other random occasion. What they
wear does have a bit to do with the way they perceive
themselves. For example, when you dress your daughter up in
a supergirl costume, you're kind of establishing a powerful
role for her. This is awesome. Make her feel strong and like
she can accomplish anything that comes her way.
This is in opposition to dressing her
up in a princess costumes, which has more to do with fairy
tales and being rescued by a prince. I would much rather my
little girl stood proud in her supergirl costume and felt
that she didn't need rescuing. It's all about role playing
when you're a child. Help steer your little one in the right
direction.
So, whether it's Halloween or just
dress up around the house make your daughter feel like a
super girl no matter what costume she is wearing. She'll
love you for it!
