Got Your Costume? It’s Time to Come Up with Great Adult Halloween Party Ideas

Live up to your party reputation
Dorothy, you’re not in Kansas any more. It’s time for a grown up event and you are flustered and ready to go. But, what’s the party going to be like? Just think about it: You and your wife, or your husband, or girlfriend or boyfriend, have been invited to an “adult Halloween party” and have decided to come as something wholly inappropriate for youngsters.

 Choose your outfit
It could be something like sexy nurse or sexy Disney princess, or it could be something like a bloody corpse, or something entirely different that I’m not creative enough to think of right off the top of my head here, but regardless, something inappropriate for young viewers. Something not PG-13, but something rated R.

Don’t add much drink to the mix
There’s  the fact that many adult Halloween party ideas contain a lot of booze. Whether it be a refrigerator full of beer or champagne, a liquor cabinet full of scotch, or a bowl full or rum punch, adult Halloween parties are sure to be lubricated by plenty of alcohol. Which means that little ones need to not be present, since socializing kids to that much consumption of alcohol and the subsequent inebriation it causes is probably not the best bet as a parent.

Safety first
Which brings us to the need to make sure there are plenty of designated drivers and key masters, people who can take keys from the guests as they arrive to make sure that nobody gets behind the wheel with a head full of hooch. When it comes to adult Halloween party ideas, driving drunk is absolutely the worst one.

Suppose you are holding the party -- Here are some really good adult Halloween party ideas
The most obvious adult Halloween party idea is to have a contest for the best costume ideas and watch the fun begin. You can break it down into themes such as funniest, scariest, etc. Or your contest could be according to the party theme -- like medieval costumes or a 1950s party. The ideas are endless.

Let your guests know they’ll be competing for prizes such as most outrageous costume, funniest costume, best couple costume, etc. If you have the space, consider setting up a small stage in your backyard to give everyone the chance to see the costumes and vote by applause as to who should win.

Get ‘em in their huntin’ clothes
Another great adult Halloween party idea is to create a scavenger hunt for your guests. This could mean coming up with a list of items that teams will need to collect over the course of the night. These could be things like carved pumpkins, toilet seats or bowling pins. Naturally you’ll want to entice everyone with prizes.

A picture is worth 1,000 words -- if you can show them
A variation on this adult Halloween party idea would be to have a scavenger hunt with photos. Since everyone’s cell phone can snap a picture you could give folks a list of photos that might include a picture with a barnyard animal, a picture with a cop, or a picture of a professional restaurant kitchen.

The thing to keep in mind with scavenger hunts is to set a time limit. You don’t want folks out all night missing the party!

Your adult Halloween party ideas can be expanded when you take the entire party to a big Halloween parade. All of your guests could wear coordinated theme costumes that would unify them. You could then proudly march down the parade route and head back to the house for the rest of the night’s merriment.

Back to the 50s -- 80s?
Then there is the retro adult Halloween party idea that will surely make for a memorable night. This would be taking your guests out trick or treating. Technically there is not an age requirement for trick or treater so there is nothing wrong with a much of costumed and well behaved adults getting their fill of Halloween candy. No doubt everyone would have fun with that adult Halloween party idea!

Be creative and have a ball -- masquerade that is ..
So remember to keep your adult halloween party on a realistic level. Be explicit on the invitations that it is intended for adults only, and for your friends to avoid bringing their children. And, just use these adult Halloween party ideas as a catapult (don’t include this in your party) to come up with the All Hallows Eve bash of the year! With that said, have lots of fun and dress in a nice or naughty costume -- whichever fits your fancy dress idea for the night!
